Recording

This album is a compilation of some of the best tracks ever recorded by Art Pepper. His inventiveness, authoritative alto sax has sway all the way. Although gigging with Gus arnheim, Benny Carter, Lester Young, and Stan Kenton, he seems to be more at home with a small group, as evidenced by these cuts. There are many phrases that have been used to describe Art Pepper, But I think that ’tenderness’ and deep emotional feeling are probably as close as you’ll ever get. Although, almost 20 years old, this probably still remains the best record Art Pepper ever made.
